Alibaba new secret business

Alibaba will announce a new business in the coming weeks.

According to the source, this brand new venture has been kept as a top-secret in Alibaba for three years! Many media friends received a mysterious invitation letter on September 16th, with a silhouette of a plum-shaped animal on its cover. It is creating great speculation on this new business. Do you know that Alibaba has been known for naming its businesses after animals? For example, Tmall (e-commerce) is a cat, Ant Group (finance) is an ant, Freshhema (grocery) is a hippo, and Cainiao (logistics) is a bird.

Thanks to all these creative names, netizens also crowned Alibaba a nickname of “Ali Zoo”. Let’s watch this space.

Pepsi launched a sleep-aid drink called Driftwell

As more people have trouble sleeping during COVID – 19, Pepsi launched a functional drink called Driftwell aimed at reducing stress and improving sleep quality.

Driftwell contains 200 milligrams of L-theanine and 10% daily value of magnesium. Some studies showed that these ingredients can improve sleep quality and help reduce physical symptoms caused by stress. They will be available on e-commerce platforms nationwide starting this December.

Pepsi expanded its business into new health and wellness categories. Due to COVID – 19, health and wellness become a hot issue. We believe that these new categories will consistently boom into more mainstream. Brands should make good use of this opportunity to boost sales!

” Fingertip search function” available on WeChat!

Tencent has launched a new function called the ‘Fingertip Search’ on WeChat this month.

The function is empowering in-app search on Wechat, enhances its user-experience and encourages users to look up for reference whenever is needed, just at their fingertip. We believe the new function is not only merely for improving in-app UX, but also to avoid users from leaving the app to use other platforms e.g. Baidu/ Little Red Book, and keeping the traffic within the Tencent ecosystem.

We anticipate this will have an impact on the Chinese SEM and SEO in the future, and it is probably not a piece of great news for Baidu, Sohu, 360, etc.
